At 10,000 orders a month, the right 3PL is less about features and more about your order profile: where your customers live, what you ship, which channels you sell on and how the contract bills you. Here is how Orderfy, ShipMonk and ShipBob line up for each profile, so you can shortlist two instead of ten.

We are Orderfy, so we are not neutral. Competitor details come from their own websites, checked October 21, 2026. Confirm anything important with each provider.

Quick Answer

Which 3PL is best for a Shopify brand at 10,000+ orders a month? There is no single best 3PL at 10,000+ orders a month. ShipBob (50+ fulfillment centers) fits brands that need split inventory and 2-day coverage to both coasts. ShipMonk fits brands that need FDA or BRCGS certification or international sites. Orderfy fits small-parcel Shopify and Amazon brands that want one central Dallas-Fort Worth warehouse, an itemized quote and direct access to the team.

What changes for a Shopify brand at 10,000+ orders a month?

Three things change at this volume: small per-order differences become real money, one carrier or zone mix problem shows up on every invoice, and the contract terms (minimums, rate increases, peak surcharges) matter more than the sales demo. At 10,000 orders, a $0.25 per-order difference is $2,500 a month, or $30,000 a year.

  • Per-order economics: pick fees, packaging, and how postage is billed are repeated 10,000 times a month.
  • Shipping zones: your customer map decides whether one node is enough or two nodes pay off.
  • Contract floors: monthly minimums and account fees apply even in a slow month.
  • Operational access: when something goes wrong at 10,000 orders, how fast you reach a person who can fix it matters.

Do you need more than one warehouse at 10,000 orders a month?

Not automatically. Two nodes cut transit time and zone cost for customers near each node, but they split your inventory, add safety stock, and can raise inbound freight. Whether the trade pays off depends on your customer map and your delivery promise.

A simple test: pull 90 days of orders by destination state and group them by shipping zone from a central point. If most orders land in zones 2 to 5, one central node is usually enough. If a large share lands in zones 7 and 8 and you promise 2-day delivery, a second node is worth pricing.

For Shopify brands that ship ground only, central location is a real advantage. For brands that sell on speed, it is not. Ask every 3PL for a transit map from their node(s) to your top 20 destination ZIP codes.

How do minimums and fees change the cost at 10,000 orders?

Minimums matter more as volume grows, because they scale with your orders. ShipMonk states its monthly minimum is your monthly order volume multiplied by your first-item pick fee, then reduced by 20%. It does not publish the pick fee, so you can only see the number in a quote.

Worked example (illustrative numbers, not a quote): suppose a quoted first-item pick fee of $2.50 at 10,000 orders a month.

StepCalculationResult
Monthly ordersGiven10,000
First-item pick fee (hypothetical)Given$2.50
Pick fee x orders10,000 x $2.50$25,000
Minus 20%$25,000 x 0.80$20,000 monthly minimum

In that example you would owe at least $20,000 in a month with any volume. At 6,000 orders, you would still owe $20,000, which is $3.33 per order against fulfillment charges at $2.50 plus other fees. Whatever 3PL you pick, ask for the formula in writing and model a slow month and a peak month. See how to negotiate a 3PL contract and the 3PL cost breakdown.

Orderfy quotes are itemized on your numbers, including how postage is billed. The rate depends on items per order and packaging, so ask for a quote built on your order profile.

What does a 3PL invoice look like at 10,000 orders?

Use this checklist to compare quotes line by line. Ask each provider to fill in the same sheet.

  • First-item pick fee and additional-item pick fee
  • Packaging: box, mailer, dunnage, branded inserts
  • How postage is billed: pass-through, markup, or discounted rates
  • Receiving: per pallet, per carton or per unit
  • Storage: per pallet, bin or cubic foot, and any long-term storage fee
  • Account, platform or onboarding fees
  • Monthly minimum, and the formula behind it
  • Returns processing and kitting or special projects
  • Peak-season surcharges and rate-increase clauses

Use the 3PL cost calculator to turn the answers into a monthly total.

Where does Orderfy fit, and who is it not for?

Orderfy is one warehouse in Garland, Texas, in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, built for high-volume Shopify and Amazon sellers. Same-day shipping is available. Orderfy ships orders with 99.9% order accuracy, tracked in Orderfy WMS, its proprietary in-house system, and reships any wrong or incomplete order free while crediting that order's fulfillment fee. Every inbound delivery is photographed on arrival, packed orders and pallets are photographed daily before pickup, and clients get direct communication channels for 24/7 access to the warehouse team. Quotes are itemized, including how postage is billed. Inbound inventory is typically received and sellable the same day, each brand has dedicated staff who know its specifics, and Orderfy handles large surges such as product launches and limited-time drops. Billing is weekly with autopay.

Orderfy is a better fit if you ship small parcels, sell on Shopify and Amazon, want one inventory pool for FBA prep and Shopify, and value direct access to the team.

Orderfy is not the right fit if you need multiple US warehouses, international fulfillment, or FDA or BRCGS certification today. In those cases ShipMonk or ShipBob will serve you better.

Not sure which profile you are? Send your last 90 days of orders and we will tell you honestly whether we are a fit, even if the answer is a different 3PL.

Frequently asked questions

It depends on your order profile. Multi-node networks such as ShipBob suit brands that need 2-day coverage to both coasts. ShipMonk suits brands with certification or international needs. A single central warehouse such as Orderfy suits small-parcel brands that ship ground and want itemized pricing and direct support.

Costs vary by items per order, packaging, storage and postage. Pick and pack alone is only the start, before packaging, receiving, storage and postage. Build your own number with the 3PL cost calculator and read How much does a 3PL cost.

Not always. If most of your orders ship by ground into zones 2 to 5 from a central location, one warehouse can be enough. If you promise 2-day delivery to both coasts, price a split-inventory network too.

ShipMonk's pricing page says the monthly minimum is your monthly order volume multiplied by your first-item pick fee, reduced by 20%. The pick fee is set during the sales process, so you need a quote to see the dollar amount.

ShipBob's homepage lists 50+ fulfillment centers across the world as of October 21, 2026. ShipBob says it uses the network to split inventory to cut shipping cost and transit time. Ask which centers would hold your inventory, not just the total.

Ask any 3PL for its onboarding timeline in writing, from signed quote to first shipped order, and what it needs from you. Orderfy helps brands transition in, including all software setup, and go-live can be as fast as the same day once products and inventory are ready.
