How to Choose a Prep Center
- Check the minimum against your volume. Minimums range from none to 5,000 units a month.
- Ask who builds the FBA shipment. Some prep centers build shipments for you; others need you to build them in your own software.
- Ask how you’ll track your units. A WMS or portal with counts and photos saves a lot of back-and-forth.
- Ask how inventory gets to Amazon. Small parcel, LTL, consolidated full-truckload and Amazon’s partnered carrier all cost different amounts.
- Ask about your product type. Glass, liquids, hazmat, oversized and food items need specific handling.
Frequently Asked Questions
No. Amazon stopped offering prep and labeling services for US FBA shipments on January 1, 2026, so units must arrive prepped and labeled. Check Seller Central for the current requirements.
Published rates among the prep centers here range from about $0.50 to $1.00 per unit, depending on volume and how much prep each item needs. Others quote per unit based on your volume.
KAK Sourcing in Houston says it has no minimum. MyFBAPrep’s published rate has a 5,000-unit monthly minimum, and Orderfy Prep works with sellers moving 5,000+ units a month.
It depends on the prep center. Orderfy Prep builds your FBA shipments and includes the Orderfy Prep WMS, so many sellers no longer need separate shipment software. See our InventoryLab comparison.
Yes. Dallas–Fort Worth is close to the middle of the country and to many Amazon fulfillment centers, which keeps freight to Amazon short.
